Independently bottled rye whiskey from James E. Pepper, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. The first three batches from this series have each seen the whiskey finished in different types of cask – this one was finished in Oloroso casks (as pointed out by James E. Pepper owner Amir Peay on the label).
Batch 1 is a release of 1,622 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Region:
Nose: Red cola cubes, sticky toffee pudding made with dates and blood orange rind lead with creamy vanilla and cacao in support. Plenty of dusty oak spice is present throughout.
Palate: Rich dark chocolate, vanilla pod sweetness and aromatic warmth from clove and cinnamon come through first, with lots of chewy rye notes and caramel in support.
Finish: Red fruit and rye spice linger.
Overall: A really wonderful rye from James E. Pepper.
