MORTLACH AGED 19 YEARS – Distilled 1997

In 1823, Mortlach was the first licensed distillery in Dufftown and was built around the abbey which gives it its name. They distil a complicated 2.81 times which creates their signature robust and fruity expression.

THE ART OF MATURATION

• Matured for nineteen years in a refill bourbon cask, which slowly adds complexity to the character of this unique Speyside whisky.
• Further matured for two months in a European oak cask that had held Châteaux Talbot’s famous Bordeaux Cru-classified red wine.
• The French red wine barrique was chosen especially by Murray McDavid’s Whisky Creations Team to add fresh fruit flavours to this rich, full-bodied malt whisky
