For the 2021 Campbeltown Malts Festival, the Glen Scotia Distillery released this marvellous 10 year old single malt! It was distilled using unpeated barley, and initially aged in first-fill bourbon barrels before enjoying a five-month stay in first-fill Bordeaux wine barrels from the Medoc region. Following that, the whisky was married together in refill bourbon barrels, then bottled up at cask strength, resulting in an expression bursting with ripe fruit and jammy berry notes, alongside a subtle whiff of classic Campbeltown salinity.
Region: Highland
Nose: Vanilla pod, spiced berry compote, a a little drizzle of salted caramel, subtle floral wafts developing later on.
Palate: Bright orange oil zestiness, paired with chocolatey malt and a splash of strawberry.
Finish: Hints of cardamom, cinnamon, toasted oak, and earthy vanilla stick around.
