The Macallan Masters of Photography series is a wonderful collection of whiskies which have collaborated with some of the world’s top photographer’s to create some absolutely stunning limited releases. Steven Klein is the chosen photographer for this release and his unique disruptive style takes the series in another direction. For whisky lovers, it has a slight peaty flavour and this is the first ever Macallan to have spent time in casks from Rioja , which has imparted a pinkish tinge to the whisky.

Nose: Sweet berries to the fore, tempered with hints of chalk and light vanilla. Dried fruits ripen but are still to open. Period oak. Caramelised ginger. Orange rounds out with a wisp of smoke.
Palate: Sweet spice lingers, then opens up to show subtle smokiness: brief then gone. A brief moment in time. Dark chocolate, and orange zest. Resinous oak is soft and textured. Wood smoke shows late.
Finish: Medium to long. Soft, rich fruit ending in wood smoke.
