Mezcal Vago Elote (Hijos de Aqulina Garcia)

With corn and agave being the staples of Mexico, Mezcal Vago Elote represents the true essence of Mexico. Essentially an Espadín Aquilino infused with toasted corn, this mezcal is unique to Aquilino’s family.

The corn often grows alongside the agave rows above the Palenque of this mezcalero. The dried kernels of corn are toasted and placed in the still with the mezcal to infuse its flavour.

The corn never ferments, it is strictly used as a flavour infusion, therefore Mezcal Vago Elote is a 100% agave spirit. The batch is then distilled a second time, resulting in a clear joven mezcal with a subtle Mexican corn flavour.

The food pairings with this mezcal are limited only by one’s imagination. The Elote is an excellent “gateway” mezcal for whisky connoisseurs.
