Compass Box Hedonism – Grain Scottish Whisky
Compass Box’s Hedonism is an unusual style of 100% blended grain Scotch whisky. They only produce it once a year. This year’s batch (code H29MMIX) comprises just 14 carefully-selected, first-fill American oak casks. The whisky derives depth and complexity from 29-year-old Carsebridge, while 18-year-old Cambus and 14-year-old Cameronbridge provide a sweet, fruit structure. Hedonism’s signature finish is long and full of vanilla cream, toffee and a touch of coconut. As an aperitif, serve with a small amount of chilled water. Late in the evening, serve neat. Makes a great whisky sour. Distillery sourcing: Cameron Bridge, Carsebridge and Cambus, between the ages of 14 and 29 years old. Wood: 100% first-fill American oak barrels or rejuvenated American oak hogsheads. Bottling details: 43% ABV. Natural color. Not chill filtered.
A terrific blended grain whisky (the first of its type when released in 2000) from tireless innovators Compass Box. Supple & silky, with elegant, rich flavours of vanilla, toffee, coconut and cocoa.
Other Scotch Whisky
From that first, delectable, introduction Hedonism is all ripe fruit, fraises des bois and sponge cake. Some red pepper provides an interesting point to mull.
Very sensual, disarmingly sleek and creamy. Black cherry and sweet spices, some cereal notes.
Very warm and spiced, toasty, some oak and milk chocolate.
