The standard-strength release of Elements of Islay’s Peat. Bottled at 45%, this has the same classic Islay character as Full Proof – notes of fruit, spice and smoke – but with less power that makes it a great introduction to Islay whisky.
Region: Islay
Nose: Orange peel and thick-cut bacon are entwined on a bed of seashells, while coal smoulders in the background.
Palate: A heaving bosom of hickory smoke is drizzled with salted caramel and dark chocolate. An abandoned cup of lapsang souchong tea is faintly discernible in the distance.
Finish: The initial torrid rush of sea spray, sweet oranges and plump baked apples fades, leaving the comforting marriage of heavy smoke, truffle salt and sweet spice behind.
