**Longrow Red 10Year – Refill Malbec Cask Finish (52.5%)
This edition of Springbank’s Longrow Red single malt! The 10 Year Old Campbeltown whisky was initially matured in bourbon barrels for seven years, followed by a lengthy three year finish in refill Malbec barriques sourced all the way from South Africa. It was then bottled at cask strength, with an outturn of 10,000 bottles at 52.5% ABV.
Region: Campbeltown
Nose: A subtle coastal hint lays underneath heaps of red fruit, with cherry and currants alongside old leather.
Palate: More red fruit, this time more tart, with plum skin and wafts of coastal peat smoke, and spiced orchard fruit.
Finish: Red grape and cherry jam lingers on a smouldering, smoky finish.
