Releases from The Last Drop series always have a story to tell – and this particular expression (unveiled in mid-2017) has quite a tale. It was originally blended as a 12 year old back in 1983, with the excess whisky returning to ageing within 11 Sherry butts. After 9 more years of maturation, a portion was bottled, while the rest was moved over to 9 American oak barrels. It was in these barrels that the whisky continued to mature for another 24 years before being bottled! Only 1,352 bottles of The Last Drop 1971 were produced, and each one comes with a 5cl miniature, letting you get a taste of the whisky while keeping your full-sized bottle sealed for a special occasion.
